The Ultimate ChatGPT Plugins Guide
OpenAI just announced that every ChatGPT Plus user is getting access to plugins and browsing, here is the only guide you'll ever need to activate plugins and get started with some cool ones!
Introduction
ChatGPT plugins and the browsing feature are new beta features that are rolling out to all ChatGPT Plus users this week, that allow ChatGPT Plus users to interact with third-party APIs and the web using the GPT-4 model. This guide will walk you through some of the most useful plugins and how to use them.
Enabling Plugins and Web Browsing
To enable these features, you need to go to your Settings in the bottom left-hand corner of the ChatGPT screen, select Beta features, and toggle Web browsing and Plugins. You also need to select the Plugins model under GPT-4 when you start a chat. Keep in mind, this won’t work if you don’t have ChatGPT Plus, however, OpenAI does plan to release plugins to the general public in the coming months.
Must-Use Plugins
Wolfram Alpha Plugin: This plugin allows ChatGPT to perform complex calculations and provide accurate information. It's especially useful for math-related queries. For example, you can ask it to calculate how many chickens could fit inside the Grand Canyon, and it will provide a detailed calculation.
WebPilot Plugin: This plugin allows ChatGPT open online web pages and uses that context to generate more text. For example, you can provide links to already existing articles and ask it to create a new article with the same topic using that information.
KeyMate.AI Search: This plugin allows you to access the internet for up-to-date information with an AI-powered search assistant. If you don’t have access to the official OpenAI web browsing feature, this is the second best.
ShowMe Plugin: This plugin allows ChatGPT to create diagrams based on the information provided. For example, you can ask it to create a diagram representing the data in a PDF or based on search results.
Chat with PDF Plugin: This plugin allows ChatGPT to interact with PDF documents. You can ask questions, analyze, and parse through PDF documents by simply providing a PDF URL.
Create Spotify Playlists Plugin: This plugin allows ChatGPT to create Spotify playlists based on any prompt. It's a great tool for music lovers.
Video Insights Plugin: This plugin allows ChatGPT to interact with online video platforms like YouTube or Dailymotion. It can provide transcripts and metadata of videos. You can provide it links for a certain topic and ask it to summarize that topic, make an article based on it and much more.
Chess Plugin: This plugin allows you to play chess with ChatGPT. It's a fun way to pass the time and improve your chess skills. You can select from beginner (1000 Elo), intermediate (1500 Elo), advanced (200 Elo), and grandmaster (3200 Elo) levels to meet your chess level.
Zapier Plugin: This plugin allows ChatGPT to interact with Zapier, a tool that connects over 5000+ apps and automates workflows. This is a very powerful automation that I will make another article on, just considering how in-depth you can go with this.
Remember, these plugins are powered by third-party applications that are not controlled by OpenAI, so be sure you trust a plugin before installation. Also, keep in mind that you can only enable up to three plugins at once.
Conclusion
While the ChatGPT plugins and the browsing features are still in their early stages and need some improvements, they offer a lot of potential for enhancing the capabilities of ChatGPT. From performing complex calculations to creating diagrams and finding comics, these plugins can make your interactions with ChatGPT more productive and entertaining.
